A Linky Party - Favorite Classroom Songs

I am linking up with Mrs. Ziegler at Teaching With Z to share some of my favorite classroom songs! What a great linky party - thank you for hosting!!

http://teachingwithz.blogspot.com/2012/07/a-linky-party-favorite-classroom-songs.html

I sang the Good Morning song (I found this online awhile back - not sure where) and the kids, as the year went on would lead it.  Here are the words:

Hello to everyone
And how are you today?
We come to our circle time to laugh and learn and play
And when you're up, you're up
And when you're down, you're down,
And when you're only halfway up, you're neither up nor down
So roll your hands so slowly
And roll your hands so fast
And give your hands a clap, clap, clap
And put them in your lap

Laura from the The Kindergarten Teacher also shares one of my favorite musicians - Laurie Berkner!!! She is awesome. In addition to the songs, Laura has listed I would add:

We Are The Dinosaurs and Rocketship Run to get the wiggles out.

Oh yeah, and, I Know A Chicken. Once you sing this a few times with the kids you will wake up singing it or find yourself in line at the grocery store singing it to yourself! I love to use the egg shakers with this one!

All Around The Kitchen is a great energizer by Wayne Potash.

If you are looking for some songs to calm, Laurie has some great ones as well. Here is one of my favorites:

Fly Me To The Moon - This is just so soothing and a beautiful rendition. (Unfortunately, I couldn't find this on you tube)

Center time was such a busy time in our classroom. As the kids were cleaning up and coming back to their tables, I play any of the songs from Music For Deep Sleep - Peaceful Resonance. A great choice for a nap or quiet time too!

When I taught kindergarten, to transition the kids back to the rug after independent reading and writing I played Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World. At first, I tried Oye Como Va by Tito Puente. The kids loved it, (you should have seen the dance moves) however, I had to change it to A Wonderful World, it was just too much for a few :)

This book goes great with it, if you are looking for a visual to go with it during circle time!

I could go on and on! I have to stop myself :)
