While in Barnes and Noble this afternoon trying to beat the heat, I came across this great book: The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School By Laura Murray.
Summary:
Summary:
A gingerbread man gets baked by a classroom full of kiddies and before he is cool the class runs to recess and leaves him in the classroom! What to do? He runs after them and runs into various school personnel along the way from gym teacher to nurse to art teacher to finally the principal. The principal shows him the missing posters and signs that the students created looking for him! Wait...they didn't want to eat him like the fox? It has a happy ending and the kids even make him a desk, chair and little house out of gingerbread! The story has wonderful rhyming text that just makes you feel as if you are running side by side with the gingerbread man! This would be a great story to read during your writing in the world unit as you are introducing your student to signs and posters or to introduce a new twist to an old favorite The Gingerbread Boy By Paul Galdone.
That looks like such a fun book. I think i need it to go with my other gingerbread books. thanks

That's amazing! Part of our ela curriculum includes teaching about the gingerbread man, so that will go along perfect!
