Stuffed Animal Sight Word Center

Today, at Education World I am blogging about sight words and developmentally appropriate ways to teach sight words at the preschool level. To read the blog post, click here

I have created a sight word packet that you can upload for free at Education World. Click here to be brought to the free uploadable sight word packet

I would love to hear your ideas about games, songs, or centers that you use to teach sight words.  Click here to be brought to a discussion on this topic at Education World.

At the end of the packet I have spelled out letter by letter the first 100 sight words on the Fry list.  As an idea, print off the slides, laminate and use in a center with stuffed animals.  Following are some pictures of the process:

Print off letters of sight words you plan on using.

Cut down to size.

Glue onto file folders and cut down to size for durability.
Laminate.
Punch two holes at the top.
Thread yarn through to make a necklace.

Students can now work with letters in a center to spell sight words on stuffed animals.  Please share if you give this a try and let me know how your students like this :).
